Three-peats are Hard: a Meditation

Look, Three-peats are hard.  Just ask the New England Patriots who broke my heart after I fell in love with them in my move to Boston for grad school.

But they are not impossible.  Boston pro teams haven’t tasted that level of prowess often, and sadly never in pro hockey.  The Celtics are the only Boston pro team to three-peat (and then four, five, six, seven, aaaaannnnd eight-peet)…yet.  Hopeful Boston Pride fans all looked at the stats and thought the Pride would pull off the first three-peat in the young PHF.  Honestly, I was personally so sure I didn’t give it much thought.  And then the Minnesota Whitecaps came into town following an eight game losing streak, took control of the first playoff game and never really let go.

So here we are: it is win or go home for the Pride.  Can they join the great Celtics and win three titles in a row?  Will I be writing next year speculating if they can join the Celtics as the only pro Boston teams to win four in a row?  A girl can dream.  For the moment I’ll settle for just winning tonight.

Next game tonight at 6pm in the Bentley Arena!! Tickets still available here! You can also watch on ESPN+.
